Two of my favorite things are beauty and tech so CES is my dream! For those of you unfamiliar, the Consumer Electronics Show is an annual tech show where companies come and display their latest and upcoming tech products. The show was just held last month in Vegas and here are some of the coolest beauty products that were there along with my personal favorite new tech product.
L’Oreal came out with a smart brush! It includes microphones and sensors that gives this brush the ability to tell how much force you put on your hair and scalp while brushing and count your brush strokes which helps to manage things such as frizziness, dryness, split ends, and breakage.
The data that it receives is then sent to a dedicated mobile app which also takes into account weather factors such as humidity, temperature, UV, and wind. The app then takes all this information and gives you a hair quality score and recommends Kerastase products. This brush would be great for someone like me who isn’t tender-headed and definitely goes to town to get knots out. I’m sure I have unnecessary breakage due to how rough I am with my brush. This would definitely help remind me to go easy when I brush. The brush will retail under $200 and be available mid-2017.
HiMirror came out with the new edition of their smart mirror, the HiMirror Plus. The mirror has ambience LED lighting that simulates different scenarios such as sunset, restaurant, outdoor , bright-lit office, and shopping mall. I think we’ve all done our makeup in front of a horribly lit mirror and thought we looked great and then later seen pictures and found out we looked like a drag queen 😳 This lighting will make sure we never have to worry about that again!
This mirror doesn’t just make sure your makeup application is flawless, but it also gives you a complete skin analysis! It judges your face based on healthiness, texture, clarity, firmness, and brightness. It looks for dark circles, red spots, wrinkles, fine lines, pores, complexion, and dark spots. It keeps track of all your skincare routine and current products by simply scanning the barcode on your products. It also has an accompanying app so you can go product shopping and look back at your analysis to see exactly what you need. It records your skin condition every day and compares it to the previous one and creates charts so you can see if your products are working or if you need to switch to new items. I love that! It’s so hard sometimes to really tell if your products are working because very few work quickly most of them take weeks or months and by then you have no idea what your face looked like before! A great added bonus is that the camera is security protected and can only be accessed with a code and the lens is pre-installed with a cover to protect you against any internet creepers. The previous model didn’t have the ambience lighting and can be purchased for $189.95 here. The Plus has additional memory, a stronger wifi connection and the ability to have several users. It can be purchased for $259 here.
HiSkin connects with the HiMirror and analyzes your skin even more. It’s a small, portable device that detects your cuticle moisture and pigment precipitation. You can use it on your forehead, eyes, lower and upper cheeks, and neck. It lets you know information about your skin’s hydration, hyperpigmentation, dark circles, and acne scars. Similar to the HiMirror it also has an app that keeps track of your results and can compare them and tell you which of your products are working. I love that you can easily take this anywhere with you. I’d love to take this on my next flight and see exactly how much hydration I lose from being on a plane(i’ll do a post soon about the negative impact being on a plane can have on your skin and ways to make it not so bad.) It can be purchased for $50 here.
Angel Kiss LED Red Blue Green Light Phototherapy Mask
I bought this mask last summer and I instantly saw results. I was broken out and it cleared up my skin quickly. I know Neutrogena has since come out with a light therapy mask, but this one is way better. It has three lights to combat different skin concerns as opposed to just one like Neutrogena’s. You also don’t have to buy an activator every time after 30 uses. The blue light is for sensitive or oily skin. It helps kill bacteria, calm the skin, and adjusts sebum secretion (what causes oily skin). The red light increases blood circulation and stimulates skin cells to make collagen which results in less wrinkles and better elasticity. The green light is for reducing hyperpigmentation and discoloration by inhibiting the formation of melanin pigment. I can definitely tell that it’s helped even out my skin tone, but it’s hard to tell with the wrinkles. The HiMirror would actually be perfect to keep track of my progress and see if the mask helps with my fine lines. It’s definitely going to be my next beauty tech purchase. I’ll update you all with my results. The mask is rather heavy though. I thought I would be able to wear it while doing things around the house, but I can’t. I usually prop myself on my side on my couch and watch tv while it does its magic. If you’re interested in the mask I bought it for $125, but right now it’s only $99.99.
